Help BLM Houston

Relief Aid Context

On the week of President’s Day in 2021, Winter Storm Uri swept across the United States and brought unprecedented weather to unlikely portions of the country. One of these locations was Houston, Texas, where the storm left six inches of snow on the ground. However, a major humanitarian crisis would unfold in the following days and resulted in days-long power blackouts throughout much of the state, with data stating that, at one point, over 17 million Texans were out of power.

On top of numerous health emergencies and deaths (due to the unbearable weather conditions and carbon monoxide poisoning amidst the loss of power and heat in many Houston area homes), there was severe damage to buildings and homes in our community and, as of February 22, 2021, we are also facing a severe food and water shortage in the Houston area.

With the increase in hospital visits, water and property damage (related to bursting pipes), and the skyrocketing costs of food, water, and other essentials, Houston needs your help now, more than ever, and purchasing one of these products can go a long way towards this goal!
